Look up the manufacturer of the ethernet chipsets. Why? Because its what security crazy network guys do to see if someone unexpected is prowling your network.
Enter MAC addresses or the first three sections of MAC addresses separated by colons or dashes to find the manufacturer of the device or at least the manufacturer of the ethernet card or chipset. Leading zeroes may be reduced but the hex numbers must be separated by a colon or dash.
